DesignShip

We only take on startups we can actually help build properly.

Why we stand out

Whether you're launching, growing, or scaling our work adapts to you.

Startups only

No agencies, no enterprise procurement, no one-off marketing pages. Working with one kind of client is why we're fast at it.

Partners, not contractors

We'd rather own an outcome for a year than bill hours for a month. Most of our work continues well past the first launch.

Built properly the first time

Auth, data model, and architecture decided at the start. The point is that v2 is an extension, not a rewrite.

What we do

We focus on the core elements that move your product forward.

01

Product Design

UI and UX - flows, states, and the screens nobody remembers to spec. Design that a developer can build from without a second conversation.

02

Frontend Engineering

Next.js builds that are responsive and fast because they were measured, not because the README says so. Deployed and hosted on Vercel.

03

Backend & APIs

APIs, database schema, auth, and dashboards. The parts that decide whether your product survives its first real load.

04

MVP Builds

From an idea and a deadline to something users can actually sign into. Scoped hard, shipped whole, and built so the next version extends it.

05

Rebuilds & Fixes

You already shipped, and it hurts. We take on UX, performance, and architecture problems in existing products without starting from zero.

Starting Packages

Starting points, not quotes. We agree the real number on the call, once we know what you’re building.

Frequently Asked Questions

A quick overview of our process, pricing, and services. If you need more clarity or want to discuss your project, just get in touch.

Get in touch

Yes. No agencies, no enterprise procurement cycles, no one-off marketing pages for companies that already have a design team. Narrowing to one kind of client is the reason we can move quickly - we have seen the same problems before, so we are not learning your constraints on your budget.

It means the decisions that are expensive to reverse get made deliberately at the start: data model, auth, and the boundaries between parts of the system. Plenty of MVPs ship fast by deferring all three, then need a rewrite the moment they find users. We would rather spend an extra week early than rebuild in month four.

Usually within a week or two. We deliberately take on a small number of projects at once, so availability is real rather than a queue you sit in. A front-end site can be scoped, designed, and deployed inside two weeks. Larger builds start with a short scoping conversation before any design work begins.

Front-end websites start at $300–350. MVP builds and rebuilds run $500–900. Full-stack products start around $700 and go up with scope - auth, dashboards, and integrations are what move the number. We give you a fixed figure after the call, once we know what is actually being built, rather than an estimate that quietly grows.

Often, yes - that is most of what a rebuild is. We start by reading what is there and telling you honestly whether it is worth extending or worth replacing. Sometimes the answer is that your code is fine and the real problem is the UX. We would rather say that than sell you a rewrite.

Both, and that is the point. Design that has never been built tends to specify things that are expensive for no reason, and development without design tends to ship whatever was easiest. Doing both means the handoff is a conversation between the two of us rather than a document.

Next.js and TypeScript on the front, with Tailwind for styling and Vercel for hosting. On the back, Node or FastAPI with Postgres, plus whatever auth and storage the project genuinely needs. We are not religious about it, but we are fast in it, and picking a stack we know well is part of what keeps the price where it is.

A deposit to reserve the slot and start work, then payments tied to agreed delivery milestones. Longer partnerships can move to monthly instead. Scope, dates, and what each payment covers are written down before anything begins, so neither side is guessing.

It is what we prefer. Shipping v1 is the easy part; the interesting work is everything you learn from users afterwards. We would rather stay on as the team that knows your codebase than hand over a repository and disappear. Monthly retainers are available once we have shipped something together.

You do, in full, on final payment - repository, design files, and assets. No licensing arrangement and no ongoing fee to keep using what you paid for. We ask only to show the work publicly, and we will keep it private if the project is confidential.
